James Madison & Thomas Jefferson
James Madison was an American Politician and Political Philosopher. He served as the Fourth President of the United States and considered as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Madison was the principal author of the US Constitution and was called the “Father of Constitution”. He was the first president who served in the United States Congress. Madison was the leader of the first United States Congress. In 1788 he drafted laws and creates the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution and was known as the “Father of the Bill of Rights”. Thomas Jefferson was a person who made great achievements. Jefferson was elected to the Second Continental Congress, he was appointed in 1776. He served as a governor of Virginia, minister to France, and was the third president of the United States. Thomas Jefferson was the Author of the Declaration of independence; he drafted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It is a document declaring the US to be independent. It was represented by the people of the thirteen colonies that became the United States of America. The document was created to put an end to the government rights of the people. The Declaration of independence is a right of the people change or end and to institute a new government. Jefferson believed that the United States should be free and independent, and should have full power to decide or force their rights. In 1779 Thomas Jefferson and James Madison gained a friendship and started to work together. Their close personal ties and political collaboration attached together. They used their studies to shape their ideas on government. Both agreed on the principle of majority rule with minority rights, the idea that governmental decision-making should follow the wishes of the majority of people. Both believed in the power of the Human Mind and Individual feelings. Their ideas were delivered in the “Bill of Rights” the freedom of Speech, Religion, and Press.
I believe that Thomas Jefferson and James Madison are considered “Ideal Citizens”. The reason why I believe this is because if it was for them creating the “Bill of Rights” and “The Declaration of independence” then us Americans today would haven’t the freedom or rights to anything. They fought for our freedom and rights, that’s why they created them two documents to give us the opportunity to enjoy our freedoms and rights without any problems. In my eyes they meet all the qualifications of being an Ideal Citizen. They helped and considered others, listened to the views of the people, and were willing to do anything to give us people freedom. Thomas Jefferson created the “Declaration of Independence” to protect individual’s rights and rights of revolution. James Madison created the “Bill of Rights” to limit the power of the federal government of the United States and protecting the rights of all citizens in the America Territory. Both of them showed that they cared and respected the rights of all the Americans.
